December 2023 Update
New Award Honors Dr. Heidi Henson’s Contributions to Chiropractic Student Achievement
Recently, the American Chiropractic Association created a new award to honor one student each year that demonstrates the ability to lead effective teams, communicate, engage other student leaders and bring other leaders up through the ranks. Additionally the student should make an impact by taking initiative with independent projects, helping in ways that go beyond the description of their role, or taking the work in their role to a new level. The student that most exemplifies these qualities each year will be the recipient of the NEW Dr. Michele Maiers & Dr. Heidi Henson Change Agents Award! The ACA has renamed this award to esteem Dr. Maiers and Dr. Henson’s work as a team for over a decade to transform student leadership and advocacy.
The inaugural recipient of this new honor was given to Sebastian Bergeron, of Northwestern Health Sciences University, which is both Dr. Maiers and Dr. Henson’s alma mater.
Dr. Henson was also recently re-elected for a second term to the Council on Chiropractic Education, which is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the accrediting body for chiropractic degree and residency programs. Dr. Henson is currently serving on the Council Executive Committee and is looking forward to her second of three terms in this role, continuing her commitment to advancing excellence in accreditation of chiropractic education.
